Keep the office, the warehouse and the people in between running.
Solid Systems looks after businesses in Birmingham and the wider West Midlands with managed IT, remote IT support, backup, cyber security and Microsoft 365. We don’t have a Birmingham office. Our UK office is in London, and Birmingham clients are supported remotely by our team, which has been running business IT since 2003.
For a lot of West Midlands businesses, IT is what stands between an order and a delivery. When the system that prints picking lists goes down, or the accounts team can’t reach the server, the cost is counted in hours of lost work. Our job is to make those days rare and short.
We do that the unglamorous way: watching the systems that matter, keeping them patched and backed up, and planning with you so the next problem is spotted before it reaches anyone’s desk.
Birmingham’s businesses range from professional firms in the Colmore Business District and small studios in the Jewellery Quarter to manufacturers and distributors spread across Solihull, the Black Country and the M6 and M42 corridors. Many have more than one site: an office where the finance and sales teams sit, and a yard, workshop or warehouse where the work gets done.
Those sites need different things. The office needs Microsoft 365, secure email and laptops that just work. The warehouse needs scanners, label printers, shared terminals and a network that stays up through a shift. We look at both with you, and agree upfront which systems and devices we look after.
What Birmingham clients get remotely:
The services that keep orders moving and recover quickly when something breaks.
Proactive care for every device, server and network on your sites, with one team responsible for keeping them running.
Managed IT services →Backups held in the cloud, away from your building, and cloud services that keep key systems reachable even when a site is offline.
Cloud services →Ransomware targets businesses that can’t afford downtime. Secure365 protects identities, devices and email, and trains people to spot the emails that start most attacks.
Cyber security →A new site, an office move, a server replacement or a system migration, planned and run by our IT pros with expert advice throughout.
IT consulting →Every business has a bad IT day eventually: a server dies, a burst pipe floods the comms cupboard, or someone opens the wrong attachment. What matters is how long it lasts. A business with tested backups and a written plan is back up in hours; one without can lose days, or data it never gets back.
We build that plan with you. First we find out which systems you can’t trade without and how long you could manage without each one. Then we make sure each has a backup that is stored away from your premises and actually restores, because a backup nobody has tested is only a hope.
The plan itself is short and practical: who calls whom, which system comes back first, and where people work in the meantime. Microsoft 365 helps here, because email, files and Teams keep working from home or another site when the office is out of action. Our guide to preventing data loss explains the thinking.
Solid Systems was founded in Cape Town in 2003 and has offices in London, Cape Town and Johannesburg. We don’t have a Birmingham office, and we say so plainly. What Birmingham clients get is a team that knows their setup and is there when they call.
We care about the people using the technology as much as the technology itself. A warehouse supervisor, a finance manager and a managing director all need IT that gets out of their way, and that human focus shapes how we plan and how we support.
Where a business has sites in more than one place, including South Africa, every site gets the same helpdesk and the same standards.

No. Our offices are in London, Cape Town and Johannesburg, and Birmingham businesses are supported remotely. Onsite work, when it is needed, is agreed with you before it starts.
Yes. Many businesses have more than one site, and every site can use the same helpdesk. We agree with you upfront which systems and devices on the operational site we look after.
By watching them. Monitoring flags warning signs such as a full disk, a failing backup or a device that has missed its updates, so they can be fixed before they turn into downtime.
If we have built your recovery plan together, you restore from backups held away from your premises, bring your key systems back in an agreed order and keep people working in Microsoft 365 while that happens.
